My 2016 Masters Entries

Hi all,

The past few years, I have entered the Scrapbooking Memories Masters competition. So many talented scrapbookers here in Australia and I love the final chosen masters! I wasn't successful (this time), but I really loved the pages I created, and I managed to receive an honourable mention for one of my pages.

Anyway, today I'd like to share my entries and how I created them.

TASK 1: SINGLE LAYOUT – 5X7in PHOTO
Layout 1 Title: Bucketful of Joy

Note: I received an Honourable Mention for this layout....

About this project:
Everyone loves the beach, especially my girl Jessie, and this photo captures so much of her spirit and joy. I combined some awesome patterned papers as well as some mixed media techniques, creating a colour scheme to perfectly match the photo. I also used mediums of the colour sprays and Colour Shimmer Dusts, to create my own colour-matched embellishments with the paper flower and Charms Creations arrow& tab. The pops of turquoise, blue and white and small elements of copper, look great against the neutral background.

Material List:
American Crafts cardstock, Kaisercraft cardstock, My Minds Eye paper, Fancy Pants paper, Kaisercraft alphabet stickers, American Crafts Thickers, Cocoa Vanilla Studio alphabet stickers, Flutterby Designs flair, Crate Paper Craft Market stickers, D-lish Scraps Resin glitter dots, Rainbow Splendour wood veneer (via Corbett Creations), D-lish Scraps jeweled cabochons, My Minds Eye enamel shapes, Tim Holtz Distress Spray Stain, Mister Huey’s Color Mist, Jo Sonya Texture Paste, Tim Holtz Stencil, Colour Blast Colour Shimmer Dust, copper staples, machine stitching, white satin seam binding, muslin, twine.

TASK 2: LAYOUT USING UNCONVENTIONAL materials
Layout 2 Title: Yeah!
About this project:
For the past few months I have become a bower bird, saving a little pile of unconventional items that I thought could be used on a scrapbook page. When my daughter’s library bag broke, I instantly saw potential in the lettering on the vinyl bag. Really, the entire page was designed around the large YEAH that I cut out from the bag! And of course it was perfect to go with these photos of Jessie and her cousin laughing and making funny faces! I tried to have a mixed balance of girl and boy embellishments and I love that you can combine flowers and skulls to achieve this!
Material List:
Bazzill Cardstock, American Crafts Cardstock, Tim Holtz Tissue Paper, Colour Blast Colour Mica Powder, Mont Marte Gel Medium, Kaisercraft stencil, Heidi Swapp stencil, Kaisercraft stamps, Posca Paint pen, Versamark Staz On ink, Flutterby Designs Sticky Snippets, Flutterby Designs flair, D-lish Scraps spotty bow, Charms Creations DIY flag, D-lish Scraps enamel dots, My Minds Eye word stickers, Me & My Big Ideas puffy stickers, Rainbow Splendour foam leaf, resin flowers, paper flowers, muslin, black staples, colour wire, spotty button. Unconventional items: child’s bangle, title letters cut from old library bag, skull tag from old lunchbox, pen lid/spray bottle lid to stamp circles, plastic straw, clothing tag and plastic fasteners, craft pom pom, fibre washer, plasterers mesh.

TASK 3: LAYOUT Featuring Colours of the Rainbow
Layout 3 Title: Collectors

About this project:
When I started creating this layout I was determined to incorporate all the colours of the rainbow without it being overwhelming. So I designed this page from a white base, with circular elements and keep it balanced with plenty of white space. I brought in all the colours of the rainbow, firstly with watercolour paints and shimmer dusts mixed with water, then with a mix of small colourful embellishments. I balanced the bright colour with the black striped background and vellum. This sweet (and small) photo of my 3 girls was just perfect finish to the page.

Materials List:
American Crafts cardstock, Crate Paper patterned paper, Dervian gesso, Jo Sonya texture paste, Colour Blast Colour Shimmer Dust, Micador watercolour paints, Posca Paint pen, D-lish Scraps puffy alphabet, Creative Scrapbooking resin frame, Rainbow Splendour wood veneer (via Corbett Creations), D-lish Scraps wood veneer cogs, Dusty Attic chipboard, D-lish Scraps enamel dots & shapes, Rainbow Splendour felt bow, resin flowers, resin butterfly, muslin, paper flowers, satin seam binding.

TASK 4: Double Layout That Tells a Story
Layout 4 Title: Our Love story
About this project:
Some stories just have to be told. And while this lets people see right inside my very imperfect marriage, personally, it was great for me to realise that with all we had been through, we had survived. Now that is real love! I chose a selection of photos over our 20 years together to illustrate this story. By printing the photos in black and white, I got to create with one of my favourite colour schemes! And I really wanted to combine mixed media and patterned papers because that is the best of both worlds!
Materials List:
Cocoa Vanilla Studio paper, WRMK paper, Basic Grey paper, Crate Paper paper, American Crafts cardstock, Cocoa Vanilla Studio cut file, Derivan gesso, Colour Blast Colour Paste, Colour Blast Colour Mica Powder, Colour Blast Colour Spray, Flutterby Designs stencil, TCW stencil, WRMK circle punch, American Craft thickers, Rosie’s Studio puffy alphabet, D-lish Scraps flair, D-lish Scraps enamel shapes, D-lish Scraps paper flowers, Prima flowers, resin flowers, vellum, machine stitching.
