SO PROUD of this canvas I made

OK... so this was a whole new experience for me... I created a canvas for the wonderful Montessori Kindy 2 of my girls have gone to over the past few years.  Jessie finished up with them this week, as she moves to a Pre-prep program at the kindy at the girls' school.

So to say thanks I made this.... it was a scary at first, but look at how lovely it turned out!

I used acrylic and water paints for the background, the green grass is tissue paper. Patterned paper and letter stickers and words. Flowers, leaves...
Yellow Lollipop from Charms Creations  for the sun, plus a cloud.
Pink Kite and clouds from a Lil something.
I did a layer of mod podge over it all to hold all the flat bits down too.

Thanks for LOOKing! Leave me a comment so I know you've been by!

A-Z advent calendar

Hi all,
So I couldn't quite decide how to make my A-Z advent calendar for our December competition at RES.  But I made a start and suddenly 2 projects evolved.  My favourite bit is that BOTH projects are fun and functional - things that I know I will use long after the competition has finished!

So I started putting mixed up chipboard alphas leftover from all those old sets  (I know you have some...)onto a sheet of chipboard

I painted each letter BLACK, I made sure that black paint went around the letters, so I could see the outline of the letter on the back piece of cardboard.

Then I misted and sprayed with the letters still in place....

Now I have TWO things... a cool alphabet board AND a-z letters...

I decided to use the awesome Alphabet board as my Advent calendar.... I will decorate each letter with a word, flower, bling, something little as I achieve each letter challenge.... I've done A and F currently!

BUT WHAT DID I DO WITH THE BLACK LETTERS????

Well, I made A-Z cards.... (so easy)

I stuck the Auslan Fingerspelling alphabet onto the backs of the cards...

I then presented in a cute box (the box was a perfume box from a gift i received for my birthday on the weekend - how lucky!)

COOL, huh? i love it when i make something useful!

November Mystery Challenge - by Liz and Amanda

Creative team members, Liz and Amanda,  challenge you to invent your own project using mystery box items.
To celebrate "Movember" and the MEN/BOYS in our lives, this month you must create a masculine layout OR a card using the following items, and post into the RES gallery by the end of the month for a chance to win a prize.
Your Mystery box ingredients this month:
Paint/mist
* Chipboard  - LOTS OF DUSTY ATTIC in STORE now!
* Metal
* Distressing/Tearing
* Buttons
Please note: You may add some staples from your pantry (!!! - ie. ink, stitching, lettering), but please try to stick to the core ingredients as much as possible.
Here are our creations for some RES inspiration:
Amanda's layout:

http://redearthscrapping.com.au/node/3793
The details:
Papers (all available in store now!):  Authentique- green check ; Bo Bunny, etc - yellow ; Bo Bunny ETC - teal ; Kraft cardstock ; Simple story - I handcut elements from the pages "noteworthy" & "remember".

Embellishments: Prima lettering, metal charm, metal chain (from stash), buttons

Chipboard: Dusty Attic - COGS and TWIGS (AND watch out for some chipboard specials, coming soon, YAY!)

SOME close ups...

Here's what I used on my chipboard... was lovely and messy! While the paint was still drying, I ran this glitz roller stamp over it to create texture.  More mists sprayed and rubbed (yes, I used my fingers!) all over the chipboard.  I also put dimensional magic on the twig to make it stand out a bit more!

AND LIZ has outdone herself this month with 2 amazing cards!

Thanks a million card:
